About the course

Contraception can play an important part in a woman’s life. Modern contraceptives provide a wide array of options for the effective prevention of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. The growing use of contraceptive methods has brought in improvements in health-related outcomes such as reduced maternal and infant mortality.

Evidence-based information about contraception could increase the trust between health care professional and clients. To provide patient-centred care, it is important for nurses to update their skills, knowledge and resources continually.

This course aims at educating nurses about contraception, various contraceptive methods with its advantages and disadvantages. This course will also help the nurse to enable clients to make informed choices that reflect clinical best practice and the individual’s life circumstances.
